Command

Parameters

Description

Required Permission

/kick

[member] (reason)

Kicks a member from the server, sends a direct message notification, and writes an entry to the mod log.

Kick Members

/ban

[member] (reason) (delete_message_days)

Permanently bans a member, optionally deletes 0–7 days of message history, sends a DM, and logs the action.

Ban Members

/unban

[user] (reason)

Revokes a ban via ban list selection or user ID and notifies the account if DMs are accessible.

Ban Members

/timeout

[member] [duration] (reason)

Mutes a member for a defined duration (in minutes). A duration of 0 clears an active timeout early.

Moderate Members

/warn

[member] (reason)

Issues an official warning, increments the infraction counter, notifies via DM, and records the reason.

Moderate Members

/warnings

[member]

Displays a historical table of active and past infractions including warning IDs, reasons, and staff members.

Moderate Members

/unwarn

[member] [warning_id]

Deletes a specific warning from the user's infraction record using its unique ID.

Moderate Members

/clearwarnings

[member]

Completely resets a member's warning history and removes all logged infractions at once.

Administrator

/set_slowmode

[channel] [duration]

Sets rate limits on message frequency for a text channel (e.g. 5s, 1m). Setting 0s disables slowmode.

Manage Channels

/purge_messages

[channel] [amount]

Bulk deletes 1 to 500 messages up to 14 days old in the target text channel.

Manage Channels

/add_role

[member] [role]

Assigns a server role to a member while respecting Discord role hierarchy constraints.

Manage Roles

/remove_role

[member] [role]

Strips an assigned server role from a member directly via slash command.

Manage Roles

Required Bot Permissions & Role Hierarchy

For Nexus to carry out moderation actions, the bot's role needs the same permissions as the respective commands:

  • Kick Members: For /kick.

  • Ban Members: For /ban and /unban.

  • Moderate Members (Timeout): For /timeout, to apply timeouts and lift them early.

  • Manage Roles: For /add_role and /remove_role.

  • Manage Channels: For /set_slowmode.

  • Manage Messages & Read Message History: For /purge_messages.

  • Send Messages & Embed Links: Posts every action as an entry in the log channel.

⚠️ Role hierarchy: Nexus can only punish members and assign roles that are below the bot's role in the role list. Nexus also checks whether you rank above the target. This way, a moderator can't kick an admin, for example, even if the bot technically could.

Note: DM notifications only arrive if the member allows direct messages from server members. The action itself is carried out either way.
