Does Nexus require Administrator permissions on my server?
No, not for standard operation. During the invite, Nexus only requests the permissions strictly needed for moderation, automod, leveling, tickets, and stream alerts—following the principle of least privilege.
The only exception is Nexus Shield: The anti-nuke module detects attacks and stops bad actors even without Administrator rights. However, to restore deleted roles and channels alongside their permissions after an attack, Nexus does require Administrator permissions. As the server owner, you grant this deliberately and manually in your server's role settings.
For optimal security, we recommend placing the Nexus role in the hierarchy just above your moderators, but below your server leadership. You can run /diagnose at any time to verify whether Nexus has all necessary permissions and is correctly positioned in the role hierarchy.
Is Nexus really free to use?
Yes, you can use Nexus on your server completely free of charge. All base features, such as moderation, the leveling system, or stream alerts, are fully available without restrictions. Our optional Premium tier is designed for power users who want extra capacity or cosmetic customizations, the core features remain free for everyone.
Are my server data or chat logs being sold?
Never. Privacy and data protection are fundamental core principles of Nexus. We do not build cross-server user profiles, we never sell data to brokers or advertisers, and we do not monitor or store your private chat history. We only store what is strictly necessary for bot functionality (such as your configured moderation logs or XP progress) - secure, transparent, and without hidden tracking.
How do I set up Nexus after inviting the bot?
You can configure Nexus either directly within Discord or via our web interface:
Directly in Discord: Simply run the
/setupslash command. Nexus guides you step-by-step through module activation and baseline settings.Via the Web Dashboard: Log in to the Web Dashboard using your Discord account. Here you can fine-tune every feature - from leveling and automod to stream alerts—in a clean, visual interface.
Can I completely disable individual modules (e.g. leveling)?
Yes, you have full control: Using the /module command or via the Web Dashboard, you can toggle every feature on or off independently. Disabled modules are completely shut down in the background—no events are processed, no messages tracked, and no alerts fired. If someone runs a command belonging to a disabled module, Nexus simply responds with a short notice that the feature is currently inactive.
